Pre-care

Before your facial

2 weeks before (Go and Glow Facial only)

  • The Go and Glow Facial is a light peel, so stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 2 weeks ahead, the same as our other peels.

1 week before

  • Skip waxing, threading, and hair removal creams on your face.
  • Avoid tanning and sunburn, and wear SPF every day.

3 days before (all other facials)

  • Stop retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, Retin-A) and exfoliating acids (glycolic, salicylic, AHA, BHA).

The day before

  • Shaving is fine. Do it the day before, not the morning of your appointment.

The day of your facial

  • If you have a sunburn, broken skin, or an active cold sore, call us to reschedule.
  • Getting Botox or filler at the same visit? We do your facial first.
  • Booked the Dermaplane Facial? We cannot dermaplane over active breakouts, cold sores, or broken skin, so let us know before your visit if your skin is flaring.

Please tell us

  • If you have taken Accutane in the last 6 months, or if you are pregnant or nursing.
  • About any medications you take. Do not stop any prescribed medication unless your prescribing healthcare provider tells you it is safe to do so.
  • If you had Botox or filler in the last 2 weeks. Your facial should wait until those 2 weeks have passed.

Post-care

After your treatment

What to expect

  • Signature, Dermaplane, and Teen Facials: a little pinkness that usually fades within a few hours, and no downtime.
  • Dermaplane Facial: the fine hair grows back the same as before. It does not come back thicker or darker.
  • Go and Glow Facial: light flaking for a few days as dead skin lifts away. Let it shed on its own and do not pick or peel it.
  • Your skin may feel a little more sensitive than usual for 1 to 3 days.

For the first 24 hours

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 60 seconds before you wash your face or apply any products.
  • Give your skin the rest of the day off from makeup. If you need coverage, a light mineral powder is the gentlest choice.
  • No workouts, saunas, steam rooms, or hot yoga. You can get back to your workouts after 24 hours.
  • Sleep on a fresh pillowcase the night of your treatment.

For 48 hours

  • No retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, or at-home peels. After the Go and Glow Facial, wait until the flaking has stopped.
  • No waxing on your face.
  • Stay out of strong sun as much as you can.

Keeping your results

  • Wear SPF 30 or higher every morning. We like Alastin HydraTint and Revision Intellishade.
  • Most clients come back about every 4 weeks. Your esthetician may suggest a different schedule for your skin.

Call us if you notice

  • Broken skin, blistering, or crusting
  • A rash, hives, or redness that lasts more than 48 hours
  • Signs of infection: increasing pain, warmth, pus, or fever
