BBL Pre & Post Care Instructions
PRE TREATMENT:
• Please refrain from any chemical exfoliators (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, retinols, retinoids) a few days prior to treatment.
• Please do not have any active tan or artificial tanners on the skin. Skin that has either of these is untreatable for 2-4 weeks. Skin must be at baseline color prior to treatment.
• Please refrain from any blood thinning medications (if approved by your physician or ordering provider) and alcohol consumption 48 hours prior.
• Let your treatment provider know if you have taken any antibiotics within the last two weeks or any medications that make you photosensitive.
• If you have a history of cold sores we must prophylactically treat you with an anti-viral medication prior to and after treatment.
POST TREATMENT:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER
• Your skin will have a warm sensation that is similar to a sunburn for about 1-2 hours. This is a normal and expected response.
• Mild to moderate redness and darkening of pigment is also expected.
• Please keep the skin protected by wearing a hat when outdoors. Avoid peak sun hours (10am–2pm). Please refrain from prolonged sun exposure and try to stay indoors the rest of the day.
THE NIGHT OF TREATMENT
• Apply recommended post care (e.g. Alastin Skin Nectar, Revision CMT or moisturizer that your provider approved).
• If you are prone to swelling – you may wish to sleep with your head propped up slightly to also minimize swelling.
• If very itchy or “tight” in treated area, can take OTC antihistamine (Benadryl preferred at night).
THE MORNING AFTER - DAY 2 THROUGH DAY 7
• Don’t be alarmed if you wake up swollen! This is normal and severity varies from person to person. The swelling will continue to reduce throughout the day. Remember to hydrate!
• Gently wash your face with recommended cleanser (e.g. Revision Gentle Foaming Cleanser, ZO Gentle Cleanser or one your provider has approved). Do not scrub.
• Apply recommended post care to treated areas (e.g. Alastin Skin Nectar, Revision CMT or moisturizer that your provider approved).
• Apply recommended sunscreen (e.g. Alastin Hydratint or Revision Intellishade or one that your provider approved). Please apply liberally. Not wearing SPF especially during the healing process could cause adverse hyper/hypopigmentation and scarring.
• Please refrain from makeup for 24 hours after your treatment.
• Follow these steps for a week. Do not pick/rub or scrub at the skin (no matter how badly you want to!)
ONCE FULLY HEALED FROM YOUR TREATMENT WE RECOMMEND
• DAY 10 and after: Using a skin brightener and retinol additionally prevent and clear any pigmentation concerns. Apply Revision C+ Correcting Complex in the morning and DEJ Night Face Cream (or any retinol) is recommended at night.
• Using an SPF liberally (two pumps) with a minimum of 30 every day, especially when driving. It’s important to protect your investment. We highly recommend Alastin Hydratint or Revision Intellishade SPF’s.
• If your provider recommends additional treatments, please book your next session 4-6 weeks apart from eachother.
